Fashion No-No or Unique Alternative?

tightsThey say two wrongs don’t make a right and in most cases that’s true, but as we all know, the world of fashion can be a different kettle of fish altogether. This ever-changing, multi-million pound industry is home to a series of fashion 'hits' and 'misses'! Renee Puente, the fiancee of Glee star Matthew Morrison recently received a great deal of attention for a combination she decided to wear on a night out in London. She decided to match a pair of dark patterned fashion tights (which were criticised in some quarters but we think they look great) with an eye-catching black and white dress, cinched at the waist with a thin black belt. It was a look that certainly had a lot going on from top to toe, leaving the eye constantly switching focus from the striking tights to the busy-looking dress, which some compared to the Magic Eye pictures you used to see in the 90s! Is wearing such a busy outfit such a bad thing? Getting the right look can be such a difficult task at times, especially when you see those who absolutely nail it every time, without fail. Shouldn’t we applaud those who are willing to try something a bit different? A bit alternative? It’s not like Renee went out wearing a Hawaiian shirt, fluorescent green leggings and a pair of Crocs. What we saw was a well-styled, well-detailed outfit that set tongues wagging. We see so many celebrities desperate to follow a particular trend. There’s nothing wrong with that but the end result often tends to be several looks converging into one, to the point where for a little while, everyone seems to wearing the same thing, until the next big trend takes off. It’s still possible to be unique and look good at the same time. And it’s also possible to be unique and still look “normal” but if you’re aiming for unique, alternative, whatever you want to call it, “normal” probably isn't the result you’re after.
