Charnos

Charnos hosiery has a worldwide reputation for creating supreme quality hosiery that is durable, stylish and comfortable. A young couple from Poland, Charles and Malka Noskwith, set up and ran a clothing manufacturing company in Germany before World War 2. After observing the political deterioration in the Weimar Republic they sold their business in Germany and migrated to England with their children in 1932. This is when they used the skills and expertise they had acquired in Germany to form Charnos in 1935. Charnos started originally as a company selling and manufacturing high-quality hosiery out of a little-known place called Ilkeston in Derbyshire, which over 80 years on still remains the location of the Charnos head office. The company established its premium reputation through consistently embracing new technological innovations such as the introduction of Nylon not long after World War 2 - and more recently the introduction of Lycra. To this day Charnos hosiery has continued to garner a reputation for innovation, staying true to the values which grew the company from its humble beginnings into one of the world's best-known hosiery designers.
